Multi-tier Structural Steel Mezzanine Platform for Industrial Storage
Structural steel mezzanine is a raised platform supported by steel columns, main beams and sub-beams, which is independent of the main building structure and doesn’t rely on any part of your existing building for support, or attached to the wall.
Taking advantage of unused vertical space, it creates an intermediate floor between the ground floor and the ceiling in a building to provide more space for storage and work areas. Because structural steel mezzanine not only utilizes redundant overhead space to create extra storage space but also maintain open productive space below, it is widely used in industrial and commercial settings.

Advantages of Structural Steel Mezzanine
- Cost-effective: Installing a structural steel mezzanine is much cheaper than expanding your facility. It makes use of wasted airspace to create additional floor space above the ground floor. Without incurring the cost of renting a new warehouse, more space is available for storage, office, and production.
- Improved safety: With a second floor in your facility, the clutter will be reduced so that workplace accidents can be avoided to a great extent, keeping warehouse injuries to a minimum and decreasing damage to equipment.
- Increased storage space: By establishing a mezzanine floor, previous unused vertical space are put into use to provide more space for storage.
- Expanded office space: Office space is also expanded without the disruption of relocation or extension, providing employees with a more productive working environment.
- Easy reconfiguration: Mezzanine platforms can be easily extended and maneuvered to suit the renovation of your workplace.
- Strong durability: Our structural steel conforms to building standards, and is of high quality and strength, ensuring long time secure service.
- Modular management: With multi-tier floor space, the storage area and work area can be clearly differentiated, improving storing and retrieving efficiency.
Typically a structural steel mezzanine is made up of the following components:

- Column upright: Steel column uprights support the mezzanine floor and connect with the ground floor through baseplates.
- Main beam: Form the span across the platform.
- Sub beam: Used to strengthen the stability of the mezzanine, preventing main beams from twisting or moving.
- Decking: Paved on the mezzanine floor. Based on usage and load capacity, it can be made of plywood, steel grating, and so on.
- Staircase: Designed for workers to go between floors.
- Handrail: Protect workers from falling from the mezzanine floor.
- Accessories: Other functional accessories such as the loading gate can also be fitted as required.

Tips for Structural Steel Mezzanine
- Structural steel mezzanine can be used for storage, office, retail, production and warehouse in which overhead space is abundant.
- The calculated load capacity of the mezzanine floor normally refers to a uniformly distributed load. Do not put items exceeding the load limit on the mezzanine floor or place heavy items at a single point.
- Keep the staircase unblocked so as not to obstruct workers who often go upstairs and downstairs to store and retrieve cargo.
- Handrails are necessary for the safety of the mezzanine. Surround the mezzanine floor with appropriate railings and make inspections regularly in order to avoid people falling from the mezzanine floor.
- Make sure the structural steel mezzanine you plan to build in your warehouse adheres to local relevant fire codes and safety regulations.
